Ruby Pauline Parker

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruby Pauline Parker announces her passing after a brief battle with acute leukemia on Saturday August 26, 2017, at the age of 82 years.  
She was born on January 1, 1935, to the proud parents Will and Hazel (Downey) Smith in Clarke County, MS.  Ruby was the oldest of five children.  She was the only girl and very much loved by her brothers.  She married at the young age of 15 and had two boys.  She worked for many years in the local knitting mill in Clarke County and from there she worked for Sun Oil and later retired from Blossman Gas.  On March 5, 1965, Ruby married James Parker and they shared the home that they lived in for 52 years and it was where she passed away with her family by her side.
Ruby leaves behind her husband, James Alvin Parker; youngest brother, Clinton LaVelle and wife, Linda Smith; and her two boys, Richard (Barbara) Boykin and Franklin Dale Boykin; six grandchildren, Sherry (Samuel) Sharp, Tim (Amy) Boykin, Robin (Chris) McSwain, Joshua Boykin, Tara (Joseph) Reese, and Eric Boykin; great-grandchildren, Kristofer Sharp, Kaleb Sharp, Corbin McSwain, Savanna McSwain, Daven Reese, and Ryder Reese. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Hazel Smith; and three of her brothers, Eugene, Sidney, and Cecil Smith.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017; after 5:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home and Saturday, September 2, 2017, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Quitman, MS.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 10:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Bo Bankston officiating. Burial will take place in the Stroud Cemetery.
She loved to paint and to craft projects and could sew anything you wanted.  Ruby was very talented, and artistic, and she loved to bake and to square dance (when she was younger).  She loved her family and friends very much.  She helped any and everyone that she could.  She never met a stranger.  She was a friend to all.  Ruby was a faithful member to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years.  She had many friends and was loved by many.  She loved GOD and always prayed for her family and friends.  Grandmother you will be so greatly missed by all.
