Melba Frances Hiatt Baker

Funeral services for Ms. Melba Frances Hiatt Baker, were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Melvin United Methodist Church in Melvin, AL, with Reverend Patricia Grinder, Reverend Rebecca Harper, and Reverend Bob Ramsey officiating.  Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2018, at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, AL.  Interment was in the Brightwater Cemetery in Needham, AL.     

Ms. Baker, age 78, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at her residence in Melvin, AL. 

She is survived by her son, David Wayne Baker (Christy) of Wimberly, AL; daughter, Teresa Dikes (Bobby) of Quitman, MS; sisters, Myrtle Haistens of Quitman, MS and Viola Robinson of Quitman, MS; grandchildren, Kimberly Dikes, Lance Dikes, Melanie Shae Walton, John Baker, Amber Baker, Nathan Baker, Jr., Aaron Baker, and Kaitlin Baker; and twelve great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Baker; sons, Ronnie Dale Baker and Nathan Earl Baker; parents, Cecil Vivian Hiatt and Nora Edna Coxwell Hiatt; and brother, Dewayne Hiatt. 

Serving as pallbearers were Randy Dykes, Greg Dykes, Kenny Wayne Nix, Nathan Baker, Jr., Lance Dikes, John Baker, and Aaron Baker.  A special thanks to her caregivers, Brooke Gardner, Renea Andrews, Brenda Jackson, and Carla Roberts.
