James Grady Tucker
James Grady Tucker, 80, of Quitman, MS, entered Heaven on June 1, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born into this world on April 16, 1938, to Grady and Nora Tucker in Quitman, MS.
Mr. Tucker was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He was a firefighter in Mobile, AL, for many years. He was also a member of the Army National Guard. He was also a skilled carpenter in Mobile and Quitman. He loved finish carpentry, especially stair cases. He later became a log truck driver before he retired. He enjoyed working in the garden and operating his tractor. After his wife retired, they became avid campers. They were able to travel all over Mississippi, Alabama, and parts of Tennessee and Florida. For several years the couple camped in Pickensville, AL, and volunteering at the Tom Bevil Lock and Dam Visitor Center, where they met people from all over the world. The couple also enjoyed camping and bicycling at Archusa Water Park and Clarkco State Park. In his younger years, as his children were growing up, he was involved with Horse Shows and Skiing at the lakes.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lambert Tucker; three daughters, Peggy (Mel) Sanders, Diane (Ty) Loper, and Robin (John) McAdams; sister, Gerri Laird; brothers, Harlon (Paulette) Tucker, Jimmy (Regina) Tucker and Larry Tucker; grandchildren, Adam (Marie) Sanders, Stacy Roberts, Everette (Stacy) James, Christina (Matthew) Smith, Dillon (Chelsy) James, Karey (Dusty) Jacks, Justin (Kimberly) Dickerson, and Sean McAdams; 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Nora Tucker.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 3, 2018, after 11:00 am at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman. Funeral services will be graveside only at Hebron Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery (Quitman, MS) on Sunday, June 3 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ed Shoemaker officiating.
Pallbearers are his grandsons, Adam Sanders, Everette James, Justin Dickerson, Dillon James, Sean McAdams, and Dusty Jacks. Honorary pallbearer is Keith Tucker.
