Henry Van Chancelor, 86, of Quitman, MS, passed away on September 28, 2017, at his residence.
He was born on October 2, 1930, to John and Minnie (Henley) Chancelor in Clarke County, MS. He served in the U.S. Marines. Mr. Chancelor retired from Burlington after 30 plus years and also served as a Supervisor on The Clarke County Board of Supervisors for several years.
Van is survived by his wife, Ouida M. Chancelor; son, Kenneth Ray (Vickie) Chancelor; daughters, Sherri Ann (James D.) Baker and Vanessa Lee (Joey) Taylor; sister, Janie Lois Hales; 10 grandchildren, Jeffery Chancelor, William Chancelor, Allison (Jason) Barnett, Christina (George) Loukatis, Kristie (Travis) Whitaker, Tony (Wendi) Cauthen, Vance (Jessica) Taylor, Jamee (Paige) Taylor, Eli Chancelor and Josh Chancelor; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Faye Chancelor; sons, Donald Van Chancelor and Henry Kevin Chancelor; grandsons, Clifton Dale Chancelor and Zachery Dwayne Taylor, Parents, John Howard and Minnie Lee Chancelor; brothers, Wesley Chancelor, Ancil Chancelor, and Lamar Chancelor; and sisters, Earsell Boone and Margarette Driskoll.
Visitation was held Friday, September 29, 2017, after 5:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the Rolling Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Ronnie Cooper and Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. The body was taken to the church one hour prior to the service for visitation. Burial took place in the Chancelor Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony Chancelor, Joey Chancelor, Jace Chancelor, Joe Tew, Oscar Feliciano, and James Glenn Lewis.
