Raketa Nicole Price

Our world was blessed with a precious angel and she was given the name Raketa Nicole Price on November 9, 1988, in Meridian, MS, to William and JoAnn McKenzie Price. On Monday, September 26, 2017, at the University of MS Medical Center in Jackson, MS, surrounded by her family, God called His angel home.
She was an active member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church serving on the Usher Board, Youth Department and as a member of the Mt. Gilead Voices of Praise.
She was a graduate of the Quitman High School Class of 2007. She attended Alabama Southern College in Thomasville, AL, where she graduated with a License Practical Nursing (LPN) Degree in the Summer of 2010. She has been employed at Sumter Health & Rehabilitation in York, AL, Shubuta Medical Clinic and was transferred to the Heidelberg Medical Clinic as Administrator until her health began to fail. She served as the treasurer of the Clarke County Young Democrats and was active in her community.
Raketa loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them all. She was given the name "The People's Champion" by her father, William because so many people were in her corner rooting her on as she fought hard to kick her illnesses.
Raketa's precious memories will be cherished by her loving and devoted parents, William and JoAnn McKenzie Price of Quitman, MS; three loving brothers, Roderick (Tameka) McKenzie of Quitman. MS, Rashard (Miranda) Price of Laurel. MS, and Rio (Renee) Price of Waynesboro, MS; seven nephews and nieces, Roderick Jaylon, Sanaa Merrell, RaMiyah, Kobe, Diamond, Royal and River; her grandmother, Willie E. Price of Quitman, MS; her grandfather, Jim McKenzie of Quitman, MS; special friends, Latrell Arrington, Constance Jones, Kerri Davis, Brittany Jones, Katlian Kidd, Latasha Jones and Mr. Williams from Thomasville, AL; a special cousin, Latoya Prince, as well as all her cousins, and a host of uncles, aunts, her relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Raketa, age 28 of Quitman, MS, were held Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Family Life Church in Quitman with Rev. Bobby McKenzie officiating. Visitation was held Friday, September 29, 2017, at the church from 5:00 -7:30 p.m. Interment followed at Mt Gilead Church Cemetery located in the Rocky Community.
Pallbearers were Claude McKenzie, Edward McKenzie, Johnny McKenzie, David McKenzie, Jimmy Ray McKenzie and Samuel Price.
Honorary Pallbearers were Terry Hayes, Devin McKenzie, Jessie McKenzie, Tommy McKenzie, Willie McKenzie Jr., Macio Jackson, George McKenzie, Roy McKenzie, Wilbert McKenzie and Joshua Robinson.
