Family members of Takarus Moore, 31 years old, of Shubuta discovered his body on the railroad tracks adjacent to the Quitman Junior High School Thursday afternoon.

The Mississippi Spelling Bee will be held on March 14, 2017 and will be aired live on MS Public Broadcasting starting at 10:00 am. First place, Shakell Sterling (an 8th grader at Quitman Junior High), will represent Clarke County.

The 2017 Spring Festival will be held Saturday, March 11th at the Carmichael Community Center on County Road 630.

The qualifying deadline is approaching for candidates seeking to get on the ballot for the upcoming municipal elections.

Deadline to qualify is 5 p.m. on March 3rd. Candidates must file necessary paperwork with the city or town clerk.

The QHS Chorus recently attended the District V High School Performance Evaluation at Jones County Junior College, Friday, February 10, 2017.  Groups entered were SATB “mixed” Choir and SSA “girls” choir. 

The Law Office of Joshua B. Traxler reopened Friday with a Ribbon Cutting. The office is located at 123 Main Street, Quitman, MS. He will be open 8:30-5:00pm M-F except 8:30-12pm on Wednesdays.
